The central, basic shape depicted in this picture is the Sanskrit symbol AUM. AUM is like the ‘I am’ of being to those who understand the language. To many, it represents the heart essence of existence and is the first and last sound of composite reality as it appears out of a state of pure potential into form and dissolves back into that un-manifest state again. It may therefore be said that everything is contained in AUM – it is the arising, staying and ceasing of existence.
